Task 4 - Collaboration

NOTES FROM STAGE DESIGN MEETING

Watched a performance from last year’s FMP:
Liked the rug for aesthetics and practical purposes (no slipping)
Like the basic, nice and simple stage design
Looks a bit cramped? Drums too close together?

Consider scaffolding (Performing Arts FMP show)
Should be a clean set up, no mess without hazards
Lights round the scaffolding, set up a new rig?
Plants?
MAMMA MIA - Blue and white lights?
Flowers / plants - set change for last song?
Theme - Industrial? Live Lounge? Festival? Pub? - Majority liked festival theme
Stools for slower, more acoustic numbers?
Thinking realistically - would a sofa work?
Wooden boards decorated (spray paint/graffiti style?) attached to scaffold?

Continued after lunch:
Drums like the video from last year, facing inwards
Mamma mia - choir can semi circle infront of drums?
Backline - helix (guitarists will need to create tones), bass amp as it can be DI’d straight out the back of it, amps won’t be mic’ed up for Mamma Mia (Jamie + Holly will go through helix’s)
Amps on risers or scaffolding?
Festival theme - amps stacked on top of each other? Max 3 as a column?

Looked at video of performance from Christmas
Discussed: lots of wires, looks messy, need a rug to cover the wire
Alfie - using Roland drum machine
Jay - using ….. DJ deck (projected logo + potential for rehearsal footage to show audience what Jay is doing on his decks)
Costume - discuss amongst your bands, do you want a costume change?
More uniformed / coordination for Mamma mia? 2 colours - blue + white?
Flower / something sparkly / headband (something small + cheap) to be worn to look more coordinated for Mamma mia?

Blackout after every song? Makes it more seamless? More professional?

On the day of our final show, my job role was to act as a roadie, this started first thing on the Tuesday morning as I had to bring 4 different guitars as well as my own personal pedalboard to college with me, I was very happy with my job as a roadie as it allowed me to get very hands on with the gear on the day and help set up and move gear around in the morning, including a lot of my own equipment.

On the day of the show I brought with me my gibson Les Paul,  my squier mustang, and then a fender starcaster acoustic which ended up proving itself as useless as we were directly inputting Matty's acoustic guitar all night for each acoustic number.

In this photo, you can see me tuning my guitar for the afternoon performance while Brandon was setting up the Line 6 stomp.

In this photo, you can see me setting up all of my own guitars for usage in the show.

In this video there is footage of myself and the rest of the group setting up and sound checking each instrument for performance.
